Digital test reports (where examiners will complete reports on a tablet) will enable us to move away from paper-based forms and long-winded processes for practical tests.
This creates a huge efficiency gain in terms of capturing data as it removes a paper based process which previously required hundreds of thousands of man hours to key in data from test forms. It will also improve accuracy of reporting.
Vehicle standards assessors are already using similar apps to allow them to digitally record a test, find answers to questions, and get access to the vehicle’s background. The examiner version is still in development stages but that development is quite advanced and we should see its rollout in coming months.
